Staff Scientist, Bollyky Lab, Stanford University

Dr. Jessica Sacher is a Staff Scientist in the Bollyky Lab at Stanford University, where she oversees phage curation, production and analysis to support projects aimed at making better phage therapeutics. She earned her PhD from the University of Alberta, where she studied phage-host interactions of Campylobacter jejuni, especially how phages interact with bacterial protein glycosylation systems. In 2017 she co-founded Phage Directory to help source phages for patients from 300+ labs around the world (60+ phage hunts and 5 cures to date), as well as Capsid & Tail, the phage community’s newsletter (1500+ subscribers). In 2021-2024 she helped set up Phage Australia, a phage therapy initiative headquartered out of Jon Iredell’s lab at the Westmead Institute for Medical Research in Sydney, including establishing the production pipeline that led to phage production and administration to 12 patients in 12 months.
