Kari Kramp

Senior Scientific Manager, Loyalist College of Applied Arts and Technology

Dr. Kari Kramp is the Senior Scientific Manager of Applied Research and Innovation at Loyalist College – which has secured its place among the Top 50 Research Colleges in Canda for the third consecutive year.

Kari's transition from Professor, Biosciences to play a leadership role in the development of the now, nationally recognized Technology Access Centre for Natural Products was motivated by her commitment to innovation and enhancing experiential learning opportunities for students. Together with her team, she collaborates with regional businesses and local organizations to enhance access to facilities, advanced equipment and instrumentation, subject-experts, and a pipeline of highly trained students to contribute to economic and social innovations in our local communities and across the globe!


She was instrumental in establishing Loyalist College as a site for Let’s Talk Science, a national not-for-profit to engage youth in STEM through experiential learning and is currently site supervisor. Dr. Kramp’s commitment to education also extends to her role as School Board Trustee, Hastings and Prince Edward District Board of Education. She is Chair of the Physical Planning, Finance and Building Committee and member of the Audit committee.


Kari has recently joined the National Children's Botanical Garden on Canada as a member of the Board of Directors and is inspired by their vision to create a healthier, happier, climate-resilient world.

Kari completed her BSc and MSc in Chemistry from Virginia Commonwealth University, and her PhD at the University of Ottawa, Centre for Advanced Research and Environmental Genomics where she used advanced analytics to investigate the applications of supercritical CO2 extraction on select bioactive secondary metabolites within commercially relevant natural products.
